Rare Benshan Green Twelve-Petal Pumpkin Teapot
This teapot is crafted from rare, natural Benshan Green clay, valued for its refined tone, subtle texture, and distinctive natural character. The clay gives the teapot a calm and elegant appearance while preserving the traditional qualities of Yixing zisha.
Inspired by the traditional pumpkin teapot form, the body is shaped into twelve full and clearly defined ribs, creating a balanced and rhythmic structure. Forming twelve ribs with consistent proportions and smooth transitions requires a high level of precision. The maker must carefully control the overall shape, the definition of each rib, and the connections between them, making this a technically demanding form to execute by hand.
The piece was made by Zhou Zhenli under the guidance of Geng Chunfu. Through detailed hand shaping and finishing, the twelve ribs are carefully defined while maintaining the rounded and harmonious proportions of the vessel. The result is a refined interpretation of the traditional pumpkin teapot, combining traditional craftsmanship with a clean and distinctive form.
